My name is "Carmi" and I'm a 4-month old brown tabby with white accents. Hey, you want to come out and meet me? I'm ready to go home with you! I'm a pretty little girl who is ready to have a purrmanent home and a purrfectly purrfect life. I'm still a kitten so I like to play, and I'm very curious about the world around me. Let's take a tour around our house and get to know all the cool places to purrch while I look out the window. I will need to check out the cabinet the treats are kept in, the sleeping arrangements on the bed, and who has the best petting hands. Come on, fill out that application and let's get going!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
