Lucy's Story...
Hi there! My name's Lucy (that's Lucy McGilliKITTY, to all you I Love Lucy fans out there). Born in early 2016, I’m playful, curious, and affectionate, and am always up for a good purr and cuddle session. In fact, when I went in for my first check-up, the vet even had to distract me with the faucet because my purring was so loud that she couldn't hear my heartbeat! I am very vocal and often give little mews of contentment when I am relaxing in my foster parents’ laps.

I was found on a farm in Southern Illinois during the meteor shower, and went from lap to lap while my humans watched the stars. I am so adorable that my foster family brought me home to Virginia. Unfortunately, their home had other cats, and I do not get along with any other fellow felines--I'm best as your only cat. I am OK with calm dogs who leave me alone. I have not yet had any exposure to small children, but I’m sure I would do fine! Please help me find my “furr”ever home with someone who will rub my head and my ears!

I am current on my vaccines, have been spayed and micro chipped, and have tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
