Facts about Pixel

  • Breed: Domestic Longhair
  • Color: Gray Or Blue (Mostly)
  • Age: Senior
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 2015-462
  • Hair: Long
Pixel is approximately 12 to 14 years old as of November 2015. He came to us from a very bad situation. We're not sure how he got to animal control or what his life was like but when we rescued him he was skin and bones and we feared he wouldn't be with us very long. We soon learned that his major problem was that he had severe dental problems and extremely infected teeth.

We believe that his teeth have caused him to be in agony for several years and thus he has spent several years on the verge of starvation. Eating at all was excruciating and eating dry food was nearly impossible. What a horrible life! The pain of hunger or extreme pain to eat!

Fortunately he came into our rescue and we've done our best to improve his life. He's fully recovered from dental surgery and is doing very well. He's happily eating dry food again and thriving!

Pixel is one of the most loving cats Ever! He adores sitting in laps, purring loudly, and getting petted. He will rub his head against your hand so that you skritch him in Exactly the right spot and loves to sleep with his humans. He's a "polite" sleeper, never hogging the covers or sleeping on your face, but will move as you do and snuggle in close in a new position to show you how much he loves you.

Pixel is cat-friendly but will need some help during the transition as not every cat he's met in the past has been nice so he's wary. He quickly warms up to friendly cats, however, and has been known to romp with the kittens also in foster. We don't know how he does with dogs. Gentle introduction to a cat-friendly dog that's not too energetic would probably go fairly well. Mostly he wants time with PEOPLE as he's a super love-bug and would love to be your constant companion.

If you've ever said, "cats are too aloof, dogs are friendlier", you've never met Pixel! He's a LOVE and even comes when he's called!

Pixel would do best in a home where people are around to give him the time, love, and attention he craves. An active house would be ok but nothing toooo crazy, please. He would also be fine in a quiet house as long as people were around for him to love. He's eligible for our Senior Cats for Senior Laps program.

Pixel is in St. Louis, Missouri. If you would like to meet him, please email Diane@StrayHavenRescue.org
