Facts about Dory

  • Breed: Golden Retriever Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
People often ask if we have smaller Goldens. Well, you're in luck! Dory is a 2-year-old Golden mix who weighs just under 40 pounds. She originated from Turkey, where she was found wandering the streets with a partial tail and a chemical burn on her back. Fortunately, we were able to take her in, give her the care she needs, and find her a home to spoil her and keep her safe.

As cute as she looks, Miss Dory does have some requirements for her forever family:

1. She needs a physical fence.

2. Older children, if any.

3. No cats or small pets.

4. She will need slow introductions to other dogs. While she has done fine with the dogs she knows well, she can be wary of new ones she meets, owing to the fact that she spent her early life fending for herself and likely having scuffles with other street dogs.

5. She is a smart little girl and will need proper mental stimulation in addition to adequate physical exercise.

Overall, Dory is a sweet, loving, happy, playful dog. Please contact us if you meet the above requirements and have a comfy couch you'd like to share!

Dory is being fostered in the Twin Cities metro area, and her adoption fee is $600.

About Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota

About Our Rescue Group...

RAGOM has been rescuing pets since 1985! We are a 501(c)(3), all-volunteer organization.
RAGOM’s mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted, abused, neglected, and displaced Golden Retrievers and Golden Retriever mixes, and locate permanent homes for them. We advocate responsible pet ownership and support animal abuse and neglect prevention programs, as well as spay/neuter initiatives.
Rescued dogs receive comprehensive medical care including a complete veterinary exam, updated vaccinations, and a microchip, and each is spayed or neutered prior to adoption. While in RAGOM’s care, dogs live as part of a family in loving foster homes where they are fed, groomed, socialized, and begin to learn basic manners. Foster families provide ongoing temperament assessment for each dog to determine what qualities should be present in an ideal forever home, and then match the dog with an approved adoptive family.
Donations and new volunteers are always welcome!

Come Meet Our Pets...

RAGOM holds several adoption events each month. For more information about upcoming Meet and Greets, please visit our calendar at http://www.ragom.org/events/calendar.html .

Our Adoption Process...

RAGOM requires interested adopters to complete an application online or by mail (application fee is waived for those referred by adoptapet.com), and have a home visit (references, pictures, and/or a video visit may be used in place of a home visit for those applicants who live outside our standard territory). Adopters must sign a contract and pay the adoption fee by check or credit card at the time of adoption. Adoption fees are as follows: Puppy-4 years: $350; 5-8 years: $290, 9 years and over: $145. All dogs, including puppies, are altered before adoption.
