My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR welcomes Lily Anne into the safety of the rescue!!!

Lily Anne is a beautiful German Shepherd who was rescued by a caring volunteer who is now fostering her. This is Lily's story as told by her foster mom:

"Lily was abandoned by her family and was wandering the neighborhood for about 4 months before being picked up by animal control. When picking her up from the shelter, she immediately started giving me kisses and tried to crawl into my lap. She is a complete lover when it comes to humans. She has been living with 2 other dogs for the past (almost) 2 weeks. She's also been living with a cat and has no issues with my cat. She even licks her in the face if Coral is close enough.

Lily got her name from 2 little boys that were at the shelter when I was picking her up. She walked up to them immediately and licked their hands. I feel she would do great in a home with children although she may be a little exuberant for very little ones.

During Lily's stay here, we have been working on some obedience when time permits. She is a very soft dog, so any type of training other than positive reinforcement would most likely be detrimental to her. Since Lily has come into my care, she has been sleeping in a kennel when I am not home or during the night. She does very well within it and runs to it at feeding times. After her spay, the first few days Lily slept in my room with my dogs and cat and did completely fine.

When I am home, Lily will walk around my house with me. She really likes to play, but when I settle down, she does too and will lay at the foot of the couch or on one of the dog beds. She really prefers to cuddle up next to you on the couch or bed rather than being on the ground.

Lily will accompany my dogs and I on walks on the trails. She loads up in the truck fine and just looks out the window. Lily is very good on a leash and walks fine. She does become distracted by moving cars when walking and tries to go up to them so she will need reinforcement to stay near you.

Lily Anne's goal in life is to love someone unconditionally and have them love her the same."
