Say hello to Sam! This fluffy handsome guy is seeking his forever home with humans who will adore him! He's a middle-aged to older dude, probably around 7-9 years and weighs about 40 lb. Sam is fine with other dogs and prefers low key canines. He's a bit interested in chasing our cat but redirects easily. He is housebroken when taken out regularly but doesn't know how to tell you when he needs to go out so must be kept on a schedule. Sam LOVES walks and is hoping to find someone who would like to take daily walks with him. He would make a great pet for retirees! He's some sort of mix of gorgeous, but since gorgeous isn't a breed in the database, we had to go with Golden Retriever/Tibetan Spaniel as a guess.

Background: Sam was a neglect case who came into one of the shelters we work with several months ago. He was completely matted down to the skin with feces and urine stuck in his coat, so had to be completely shaved pretty much down to the skin or with very little fur left just to get all of that off of him. We got him on a transport and up to our foster home where it was discovered he needed a dental and a cyst removed from his head. We had to wait awhile to get an appointment for that at our vet and in the meantime we were dealing with itchy skin issues. This handsome guy has had a rough road before being rescued! Everything's been taken care of now and Sam is ready to find his forever home. Please submit an application if you'd like to meet him!

About Happy Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

I love dogs. For as long as I can remember, I've been crazy about dogs. And they seem to be crazy about me too. My husband calls me the Pied Piper of Dogs! When I found out how many were dying in shelters for lack of adoptive homes, I had to do something to help them. I fostered for another rescue for several years, was on the Board of Directors for awhile, and then decided to form my own rescue, so Happy Dog Rescue was born. The name is in honor of my sweet lab, Jessie, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in April 2005. She was the happiest, sweetest dog that ever lived and I continue to rescue in her honor.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Meetings are by appointment only. Our dogs are fostered in a private home environment. Please submit an adoption application to start the process.

Our Adoption Process...

Adoption application (online), vet check, home visit, phone or in-person interview, all family members and pets must meet the new dog prior to an adoption to make sure it's a good match. Happy Dog Rescue and adoptive family must be in agreement about the match. All dogs are fully vetted prior to adoption: rabies, DHLPP, heartworm test if old enough, spay/neuter, plus deworming and/or flea/tick treatment as needed. Adopters are required to take their new dog to their vet for a checkup and fecal test within 2 weeks of adoption. Adoption fee is $275 + tax, total $291.50.
