Date of Birth:8/2/16
Miss Simone is the absolute definition of 'bomb-proof' kitten.
After a horrible start in life having been thrown from a truck at less than 2 pounds in size, she was rescued from Gwinnett Animal Control and placed in medical foster care with me. She was in pain and on medication for 10-days until she could heal a bit from internal injuries (swollen abdomen and belly covered in road-rash, swelling so bad it made her bladder difficult to find even for Renee - a bladder that when expressed produced blood in equal volume to urine) and gain some weight even if only ounces before going through her much needed surgery due to a severely fractured rear leg.
Even when leaving animal control and in obvious pain, her spirit shown through. She did not cry in fear or cower, but played with the crate and interacted with me. she rode quietly and could even be heard purring along the way.
She healed some and recovered as much as possible before her amputation surgery and was spayed during the same procedure to prevent a second trip to the operating room. This amazing little girl weighing just at 2 pounds received 14 staples to close the amputation in addition to the sutures for her spay and yet during her recovery, not one time bothered the incisions. Never did she have to wear 'the cone of shame' or have the wounds covered. They healed beautifully.
During her recovery she was on medication for pain that she weaned from within 10 days but occasionally has had on days still when she plays a bit too much or too roughly. As she strengthens more the need will likely go away entirely and is not even daily now.
She has been in our home for foster and has adult cat friends, a 4-year old human friend, 2 teenager human friends, adult humans of course, and even a St. Bernard who she adores. Simone is known to play with one of the young male adult cats as if he too were a baby still but can often be found snuggled up to the feline matriarch of the house as if her own kitten... grooming mutually.
Simone doesn't have a favorite toy but most recently has favored the fabric covered balls with bells inside. She chases them as quickly and actively as any kitten her age and we often joke she simply doesn't know she is missing a limb - it never occurred to her she is 'different' in any way!
She climbs, jumps, runs and is a joy to watch sheerly enjoying the life she got a miraculous second chance with thanks to FurKids.
She loves a lap to lay in, a soft blanket to 'make biscuits' on, and a window to sun in around the house. She watches the birds and squirrels from our living room window as if her own personal HBO... though the falling leaves seem to confuse her just a bit, LOL.
Simone will do well in any loving home, but would likely do well with another pet in the household, even a young cat or kitten to play with - but most likely older children or close supervision of younger children with her as she is still small and will always be a bit fragile.
If it is sweet purrs, snuggles and fun you need in your life - you have the right girl. Her precious facial markings and expressions just top the cake!
