Abe is a 4-5 year old beagle that we pulled from a kill shelter. Abe is heart worm negative, fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and current on flea/tick/heart worm preventatives. Abe is new to Pawsitive Direction, so we are learning his personality. On initial intake he is a little shy, but very sweet. Gets along with dogs, ignores cats, and is even okay with being around a pot bellied pig. More details to come as he gets settled in with his foster family. If you are interested in meeting Abe, please, fill out an application at http://www.pawsitivedirectionofsumter.org/adoption-corner.php and we will arrange a meet and greet. Our standard adoption fee of $150 applies, as the adoption fee will be used to save the next animal.

About Pawsitive Direction Spay and Neuter Assistance and Rescue Program

About Our Rescue Group...

We help pet guardians to locate low cost spay and neuter clinics, and thanks to the help of some volunteers, are able to provide transportation to those clinics. Low cost clinics are still an expense that simply cannot be met by some pet guardians. Donations that we are gifted with are used to assist with the costs of spays and neuters for pet guardians that may not be able to afford the procedure otherwise.

Pawsitive Direction promotes responsible pet guardianship by giving pet guardians the right tools to ensure a happy and healthy life for their furry companions. This includes providing assistance to pet guardians facing financial hardship by providing pet food and basic care supplies from our Pawsitive Pantry, and assisting with vet bills, when funding is available.

Unfortunately in some cases, circumstances simply do not allow families to continue caring for their pets. We will, on occasion, foster and vet owner surrendered pets as well as those that we pull from our local animal shelters. We place these animals in well screened, forever homes once they are ready for adoption.

Our Adoption Process...

An approved application, home check, vet reference, personal references, and a meet and greet are required for placement of our available pets. Follow up visits may be performed to confirm proper housing and treatment post adoption. Out of state adopters may apply, logistics and details will discussed with you by our director. Out of state adopters may be responsible for a portion of transport costs and a health certificate. Our adoption process may seem over the top and strict, however, we do our very best to ensure our rescues are placed in the safest, most loving, and secure homes possible.

Our adoption fees:
Puppies (under a year): $150
Dogs (1-4 years old): $125
Dogs (5 years and older) $100

Kittens (under a year): $90
Cats (1-4 years old): $75
Cats (5 years and older) $50

All pets adopted from Pawsitive Direction are completely vetted (vaccinated, spayed/neutered, heart worm free, and up to date on monthly preventatives). Microchipping is the responsibility of the adopter, unless the pet is being transported out of state.
