ADOPTION FEE $200

Our boy Alex that was returned by not fault of his or his families own, sometimes things just do not work out as they should. His previous family adopted him two years ago from us in CA however, they are a military family and recently got the news they were being transferred to Japan where poor Alex is not allowed. This remarkable lil guy is amazing with children. He lives with his families four very young little girls with no issues with them. He loved them very much and we would like nothing better than to place him in a loving home with children. He cannot be placed with other animals though.

We respond to all emails within two hours between 9am and 5pm CST. If between 5pm and 9am we will respond the following morning. If you have not heard back from us within two hours during our business hours please email us directly at info@soldiersforstrays.org and be sure to check your spam folder. We are by appointment only and only after verification. We are closed Mondays for adoptions.

Please tell us about yourself, family, lifestyle, other pets, children. Also tell us about your guardian breed or bully breed experience if applicable to the dog you are inquiring about when contacting us, failing to do so will get no response to your inquiry. Puppies under six-months-old are available for transport at the adopters expense via United Airlines ONLY. We do not ship our dogs over six-months-old, you must come to our location in Sylacauga AL 35151 to meet them and for us to meet you. At that time we will go over all training of your new dog so, please plan on being here a minimum of one hour.

Our screening process must be completed prior to meeting any dog. If you do not pass initial screening there is no reason to meet our dogs as it is a waste of both of our time:

1) We require a letter of reference from your veterinarian or their information for us to contact them for a reference. If providing the reference from them we are looking for: Current pets are altered, on HW prevention, flea prevention, received Rabies vaccination, and all medical they may have needed as advised by your vet. It must be on company letterhead as we will contact them to confirm.

2) A video tour of your yard and home to make sure suitable for the dog you are inquiring about. Please email to us at info@soldiersforstrays.org

3) A copy of your DL, Passport, Visa

4) Contact number

5) Link to your social media accounts (FB, Twitter, Instagram) We are not going to post to your social media this is strictly part of screening as you can tell all about people via their online presence.

Our screening process is not negotiable, it is set in place to protect our dogs, you the general public, and your current pets and children. If not willing to provide all of the information to ensure the safety of the dog you are inquiring about then please do not waste our time contacting us. If it states the dog cannot be placed with other dogs, then no other dogs, your dog is not the exception just because your dog is friendly and loves everything. While we do not place aggressive dogs back in the general public, we give them sanctuary, not all dogs can peacefully live in a home with another dog. All dogs over six-months-old have been with us for a minimum of 30 days prior to being considered for adoption. All puppies have been with us a minimum of 14 days to insure free of contagious disease.

Our adoption fee's are nonnegotiable. The adoption fee does not come close to covering the care of the dog while with us however, the fee goes towards helping the next dog in need. If you cannot afford or are unwilling to pay the fee listed for a fully vetted, fully trained dog then you are not the home we are looking for, for one of our dogs.

We do not foster out our dogs, thank you but please do not ask to foster. We do not feel it is in the best interest in our dogs to be moved around from one home to the next. When they leave us they are going to their forever home.

All of our dogs come crate trained, leash trained, basic obedience trained, and are house broken. We back our dogs for life and will provide free training for them at our location if a behavior issue occurs, even 10 years from date of adoption. They are UTD on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, double microchipped. They are HW- and on prevention for HW's as well as flea & tick medication. In the event they are HW+ (the ad will state if so) we provide all medication to treat plus cover all medical related to until such time they receive two negative test results. HW treatment is noninvasive and simply giving oral medication cures the disease, it is nothing like it use to be.

Appearances can be deceiving. When in doubt about a breed or breeds of a dog, we do a DNA test. It will come with the dogs medical records at the time of adoption.

All of our dogs are on a raw diet, we do not use commercial dog food and we cannot recommend it. It is all bad for dogs, all of it, no matter what it cost it is killing dogs. Just Google the rendering process from which dog food is made. We strongly encourage our former dogs to remain on raw. It is very easy, cheaper than a high end grain free, and will keep your dog healthy and he/she will live years longer.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Alex, a Sylacauga American Bulldog/English Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Bulldog/English Bulldog for sale in Sylacauga, or seeking a American Bulldog/English Bulldog dog from a breeder in Sylacauga.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sylacauga already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sylacauga breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Bulldog/English Bulldog breeders who help with American Bulldog/English Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sylacauga paves the way for another one to be saved.
