"Hi, I'm Buster! I'm a 3 year old neutered Boxer boy with a devilishly handsome brindle coat. I am energetic and love to run. I get along well with the other fur babies in my foster family; big, small and in between. I am a bit goofy and don't always realize my size or how small things around me might be. In fact,  I've knocked down a thing or two and stepped on more than one toe and paws. I have a soft mouth when taking treats from my people. And I don't waste any time at breakfast and dinner, because I really like my food.  I'm happy to eat in my crate if there are others around, and it keeps their food safe, too. I love being around my people and am happy to curl up on the couch next to you or lay in the floor at your feet. Sometimes I like to pretend I'm a lap dog but who am I kidding lap dogs don't come in size 60 pounds. But wherever I am, I like to be touching you. In fact, I'm a leaner. I like leaning into you (a big guy like me needs to take a load off a paw every now and then). I'm crazy about my people and they are crazy about me and want to find me the best of the best of homes. And while I love kiddos, I'm not so graceful around the ones who may be knocked down easily (no offense to the littles in your life but their safety comes first). If you can handle a goofy pal like me and the occasional smashed toe then I just might be your guy! Oh, one more thing: lots of fellas are wishing I could live with them, but I am partial to women and older girls, and quite frankly, most men make me uncomfortable and give me feelings of anxiety, so please, please help me find a home where there are females to love me!"

About Friends of Campbell County Animal Control

About Our Rescue Group...

Established in 2011 under the umbrella of another local rescue. FOAC filled the vacancy left by the local humane society when they ended their association with Campbell County Animal Control. FOAC became its own entity in 2012 and has grown to 300 volunteers. We work in partnership with Campbell County Animal Control, and as their guests at the shelter. We do not have our own shelter nor overhead expenses, and no paid employees.

Come Meet Our Pets...

FOAC vaccinates and deworms the dogs and cats at the Campbell County Shelter, which is open to the public from 12 to 5 weekdays and 11 to 4 on Saturdays. That address is 322 Dennis Riddle Drive, Rustburg, VA (behind Yellow Branch Elementary School.)

Available by appointment for visits are the dogs and cats noted as being in "foster care." We also visit Petsmart, Petco, and Sams Club locations in Lynchburg, VA, with our adoptable dogs and cats at various times.

Our Adoption Process...

We start with an application so our volunteers and fosters can have an idea of what the adopter is seeking. We ask that other pets in the home be spayed/neutered already if of appropriate age, current with rabies shots, and prefer use of heartworm preventive. We ask for a non-family personal reference as well as a vet reference to contact. We do home visits only if we feel it is vital to the pet's successful placement.

Applications are generally processed within 24 to 48 hours. Foster parents will contact the applicants to advise them of the progress of their application and to set up a meet and greet. Because volunteers work full-time jobs, contact is often made by email.

Fees to adopt range from $20 to $80 for cats, and from $75 to $300 for dogs. A contract requires that the adopter contact FOAC and return the pet to our care at any time if the adoption does not work out.
