Axel's Story...
Hi everyone! I am Axel! I love when people come and visit me at my temporary home. I really enjoy having the chance to meet new people and am pretty good at making new friends.

I am a big boy and due to my breed and current size, I am likely to still grow and thicken up a bit for a little while longer, so I need a family that is prepared to have a larger dog.

I have a very playful and active personality that would be a great addition to a family who would enjoy being outside with me to go for long walks or to play.

I enjoy being around other dogs, but I can be stand offish at first when I try to make new friends. I would rather not go to dog parks where I have to meet a large group of new dogs at one time, where it would be hard for me to feel safe and comfortable. If you are interested in adding a loving, playful companion to your family, please stop by and visit me today!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Axel, a St. Louis Plott Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Plott Hound for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Plott Hound dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Plott Hound breeders who help with Plott Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
