Chaquita is a Border Collie, 5 years old, 56 pounds, and is Heartworm positive. She was an owner surrender after her owner passed away. She has lived her entire life in a pen outside and has never even been to the vet. We do no know how long she had the mass or even how quickly it developed, but what we do know is that it was large and was encompassing her urethra. Surgery was complicated and difficult, it took about 2 hours. When it was all said and done the mass has been removed and sent to the lab. We were not able to get clean margins because of the urethra involvement. She is a friendly dog, which is good because the lady who dropped her off told us that she may bite. She has not shown any aggression towards other animals. She is becoming a favorite of FAH.
