Looking for a great family dog? Meet Sampson a purebred treeing walker coonhound. If you don't know much about the breed, they are described as clever, confident, intelligent, affectionate, and trainable. Sampson certainly fits the description and is anxiously waiting for some lucky person or family to notice his charms. He is estimated at 2 years of age and is about 70 pounds (25 1/2" at the shoulder). He would not take well to living in an apartment or town home. He would do best in a home with with a yard and a 5-6 foot fence, because, true to his breed, he loves to chase wildlife. He is fantastic with other dogs and from what we can tell, we think he would do well with cats. He knows some basic obedience and is still learning. He loves everyone he meets and does not have a mean bone in his body. People are really catching on to this breed and for good reason! Treeing Walkers have such great temperaments and tend to be playful and active, but will also be happy to chill and be around people, he loves kids. When we are outside he runs to fence if hears kids in area.
Sampson is neutered, current on vaccinations (including the flu shot, lepto, and bordetella), has been wormed, had good results from a blood panel, and is heartworm negative.
If you are interested in meeting Sampson, we start with an application so please contact his foster mom Debbie at firstname.lastname@example.org and she can send you one to fill out. His adoption fee is $250.00
We require a home visit prior to all adoptions, so potential adopters must live within 50 miles of Aurora, IL. Thank you.
