Our rescue will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express Saturday, December 10th from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 11th from 12-3pm. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, December 10th from 1-4pm and Sunday, December 11th from 12-3pm or until adopted. However, we do meet with those who submit an application and are approved just prior to the event (by invitation only) and they are given the first opportunity to adopt. If you are interested in one of our dogs, we recommend filling out an application prior to the event to be considered. Applications submitted within 24 hours of the event may not necessarily be reviewed.
Licorice is a 7 year old Lab mix who is probably 35lbs. He's a small dude. He's not a big guy and he has a small head like a Greyhound. He is a very sweet loving dog. He has a gentle, kind temperament. He was found and a wonderful family took him in. They posted signs, went to the local shelters, etc and no one came forward. Poor guy. The family had 2 other dogs and wasn't really looking for a third and so we took him in so we could find him a fabulous home.
Licorice can get along with other dogs, but truth be told, he wants to be your one and only baby. He loves his humans SO much! He could go to work with mom or dad or hang out at home. He could also even really live in an apartment or condo. He's not too big and he doesn't require a ton of exercise. He is also crate-trained and has no problem hanging out in there. Licorice is currently fostered with two dog-savvy young boys (ages five and seven) and he thinks they are the best people he has ever met- and they feel the same. Licorice is their new best friend.
Licorice is an option for a first time dog owner as long as they are prepared for owning a dog and have done the necessary research prior to applying. If there are children in the home he is an option to go to a home with kids over the age of 6.
**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)
**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
