Foster Home Feedback

                              * No Children

12/3/16 Volunteer Feedback: Durand came over for a play date and had a blast.  He did great
playing with my Pit.  He met my Lab and Chi and did great with them as well.  He didn't pester my old man Lab and my Chi snapped at him constantly and he just gave him space.  He also met my cats and didn't even seemed phased.  He is so stunning and a sweet pup.

11/29/16: Freedom has made Durand a new puppy!  He is such a quick learner and has done very well with treat-based training.

We started using a gentle leader on walks and it's made all the difference; he's really becoming a rockstar and corrects easily if he starts to pull.  Durand does want to meet the dogs that he sees, in a playful way, that's his biggest distraction... that and people; he LOVES people!! He still needs some reminders when walking but he's unrecognizable from when he first started.

He will jump when first meeting someone so I instruct people to simply turn their backs to him until he stops.  Also, the mouthing (play biting) has reduced significantly as he realized he gets more people time if he isn't mouthy.  He's gone full days without doing it at all!

Durand is currently in a home with an older, less active dog and they get along well but he doesn't give up trying to get him to play.  So he has had two play dates with more active dogs and he did great, loving every minute of it.  He also met a little chihuahua and three cats at the same home and did very well, but he was really only interested in the bigger dog because that dog was willing to play.

Durand kennels well during the day and gets a break when I come home for lunch.  He sleeps quietly in a dog bed at night but I know he'd rather be on the bed as he is a cuddler.  He is such a lover and is going to be the perfect addition to a very lucky family!

11/8/16: Durand is such a sweet puppy who has had a hard time the last couple months.  He spent 5 or 6 weeks in a regional pound with only one short walk a week.  He is currently in a foster home with a yard to stretch his legs and is settling in, but as a puppy, he has a lot of energy.

He's a very smart guy but he needs a patient home to help him learn puppy manners including leash walking and to stop mouthing (play biting).

Durand would love a playmate to help him manage his energy and because of his size and the mouthing, he would do best in a home without children.

Our Adoption Process...

There is a pre-adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adopting an animal. There is an adoption donation/fee applied to all dogs. This fee ranges from $100-150. These fees help cover the veterinary care we have provided for the animals while they wait for homes. The fee also helps pay for the food and other general care we provide for the dogs. You must be 21 yrs or older to adopt a dog and can not live in a an area where there are dog breed bans. We do adopt to homes outside on the area, but there are special requirements for out of state adopters.
