Mettle will not accept our award as ‘Mother of the Year’. She says she was just doing what any mother would do. But she did so much more. Things happened very fast for Mettle when her body was about to explode with kittens. She was trapped and taken to the OAR spay/neuter clinic where the stress of her life brought on the birth of her four kittens, right in the trap!!! An excellent mother, Mettle doted on her kittens, and called for them any time they were separated. But there is more to Mettle’s story. While in foster care, she was introduced to a tiny kitten that desperately needed the love of a warm mama because his back legs were paralyzed. She nursed the new baby, groomed him, and gave him the care he needed for his survival. “There is always room to love one more,” Mettle explained. We think that is exceptional. Mettle put her babies first, and now this amazing and special mama wants to be part of a family where she is #1...

Our Adoption Process...

We have many cats and kittens looking for wonderful homes! All of our cats are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, and microchipped. Adoption fee is $50. Because we like for our cats to go home in pairs, we have a standing 2 for 1 adoption special -- you can adopt 2 cats for one fee of $50.

Meet some of our cats and kittens, and fill out an application today! An OAR representative will get in touch with you to discuss your application. We do require a phone screening before an adoption so if you are coming to visit the cats and hope to take a cat or kitten home that day, fill out and submit the application at least a day beforehand so we can pre-approve your adoption.

As of 3/7/12, our adoption policy requires that the adopters of our cats not declaw the cats, no matter what the cat's age. We will, with our adoption counselors' help, provide potential adopters with information on alternatives to declawing. We also sometimes have previously declawed cats up for adoption. These can be a good alternative for adopters who are adamant about declawing.
