Hello friends! My name is Foxy. I'm a former family girl who was brought to a public shelter when my older purrson could no longer take care of me. I didn't enjoy my time there; it was scary and disorienting. I didn't know what my future would hold. Once I was introduced to King Street Cats, I knew that I would always be safe and cared for. A major victory had been achieved!

My next challenge was to shed the survival and defensive skills I had to hone in order to keep myself feeling safe in the confusing new world of the shelter I had found myself in before I came to KSC. I've been working hard and learning from my KSC volunteer friends and fellow felines. Everyone is immensely proud of my progress, and I'm getting along with my feline friends here in the cat room. I've come to understand that my human new friends are inded wonderful, caring people whom I can trust, and I trust them to pet me gently while whispering encouragement into my pretty ears.

This is where I'm longing for the help of my own special purrson. I dream of finding you and being your special "one and only" so that we can develop the kind of trusting bond that will help me shine!  I like what I see and it feels so nice to be petted and praised. I need a lot more of this from my special someone who will understand that it may take time and that I may need to retreat to my own cubby or little nest on occasion to absorb our lessons.

I'm about six (6) years old. My KSC friends will all attest to the fact that I am simply stunning. I have long, silky fur in a "dilute tortoiseshell" pattern. This means that I'm mostly silvery and cream colored - a very, very soft rendering of the black and caramel tones you see on tortoiseshell cats. I have some tabby markings as well, and I have a snowy white tuxedo! It matches the snowy white socks and mittens I wear on my paws. I've got bright green gorgeous eyes and a perfect little nose in carnation pink. Wait until you see my fabulous tail.

I know that I'm going to make leaps and bounds when I'n in my own quiet, safe home with my own purrson who's devoted to me. If you are the cat lover who understands shy kitties and has the patience and gentle demeanor that will allow me to continue to blossom, please come to meet me! It's easy to get started: send an email to and ask for me, Foxy. Thank you very much.

Gratefully yours,

About King Street Cats

About Our Shelter...

We are proud to be the only cat-exclusive orphanage in Alexandria, Va. We have been in operation since 2003, and were previously known as The Albert Foundation for many years before becoming King Street Cats. Because we are a free-roaming and no-kill cat orphanage, we have the "cat-friendliest cats" in town! Our primary purpose is to educate and assist the community in regard to cat welfare, and to provide loving homes for the cats and kittens in our care. We accomplish this through outreach to the local community by providing information on proper cat care, behavioral problems and medical issues involving cats. We also assist local residents in locating and retrieving lost cats and assist individuals through the cat adoption process. We provide abandoned and rescued cats and kittens with a safe and secure temporary home until a permanent, loving home can be found.

We promote spaying and neutering and all our cats and kittens are sterilized and fully up-to-date on all medical care prior to adoption. We also provide post-adoption support for adopters and anyone else that needs cat care advice. Because we only work in the area of cat welfare .... we know cats! Please stop by and visit with our friendly cats.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process is simple. When you come to the adoption center, you will fill out an application and a volunteer will interview you and ask about your cat knowledge and experience as well as your other pets. If your application is approved, they will help match you to the cat is perfect for your home and lifestyle. Some adult cats may be adopted singly, but we prefer to adopt out kittens in pairs unless you have a playful cat or dog already in residence to keep the kitten company.

King Street Cats asks for a $125 non-refundable adoption fee to adopt a cat or kitten, or $225 to adopt two. The fee includes:

- A cat that has been to a vet and tested for FELV/FIV. They are not put up for adoption unless the tests are negative (although sometimes we do have an FIV-positive cat that is healthy and can be adopted).
- An adult cat that is up-to-date on vaccinations before being made available for adoption. (Kittens will have had vaccinations appropriate for their age)
- Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption. Kittens are spayed/neutered between 12-14 weeks and are then available for adoption.
- Post-adoption support: our volunteers are very knowledgeable about cat care. We encourage adopters to call us with any questions.
