My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is little Baxter. He is very well house and leash trained, but he is a special needs little dog. He was found on the side of the road by a good samaritan and brought into our rescue. He is a cute terrier mix who is approx 3 yrs old and 11 lbs. He walks unsteadily and has some tremors, but it doesn't stop him from running around and playing and is the sweetest little boy. The neurologist thinks he was born this way and will probably not get any better or worse, but could be susceptible to seizures and would have to go on meds if that does happen in the future. He really needs a kind loving home of his own.

The total adoption donation of $525 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
