Facts about Mabelline

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tortoiseshell
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
DOB October 7, 2014
Mabelline is super affectionate, but skittish, likely due to her feral life. She is very alert and responds to sudden noises and movements. However, when all is calm, she comes for rubs and even flops onto her back and accepts belly rubs. She's chatty and interactive with her human family, when in a calm, familiar environment.

Mabelline would be best suited to a quiet and patient home, where she is given the time to adjust. A home with a gentle kitty friend would be nice, too.

Mabelline was rescued from the street when she was late in her pregnancy. She was a great mother to her 5 beautiful kittens, who have gone to their new homes.

She loves to play!! She loves balls, in particular, and will also play with and carry around small toys. She likes other cats and will immediately approach them (nose to nose). However, if they're not friendly with her, she becomes nervous around them.

Funny quirks: She asks to be fed and then wants rubs even once the food has been put out. She eats all of the food.

Special Note from my Foster Family: Mabelline is a lovely cat, so affectionate and gentle. Spending time and developing a bond with her has been rewarding!

About Our Rescue Group...

Toronto Cat Rescue is a registered, no-kill charity run by volunteers.

Our registered charity number: 889-198-727-RR-0001

Our Adoption Process...

Decided on the cat or kitten you would like to adopt? Please call 416-538-8592, or email

An adoption counsellor will return your call and give you more details about the cat you are interested in and ask some questions about your home to make sure the cat will be a "purr-fect" fit. We are happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

You will be supplied with the foster home address to have a meet and greet with your kitty. If both parties are happy, you can sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and take your cat home with you in a safe carrying case.

Adoption fee is $175 per cat. This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. It includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

1. ALL senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopters choice, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.

2. Our adoption fee for a bonded pair is $100 per cat, vs. $175 per cat.
