"Pictures of Lily made my life so wonderful, but there was always, pictures of Lily helped me sleep at night. Pictures of Lily to help me feel alright, cause me and Lily are together in my dreams." - from 'Pictures Of Lily' by The Who

We have LOTS of beautiful pictures of our gorgeous girl Lily but there is just nothing like being able to hold her and love her in real life. Lily is a 3 year old red Black Mouth Cur/ Hound mix weighing 50 pounds. She carries with her many of the typical cur personality traits. Gentle, VERY smart, sensitive, and most definitely loving. Lily is completely house trained and has impeccable manners. She is crate trained but is a bit anxious when crated. Her foster mom says she is so well mannered and behaved that crating is not needed.

This sweet sweet girl is awesome on leash, just takes everything in and never in a rush. She is very good with other dogs and has met many new canine friends during her time in foster care. Our sweet loving girl is also very kind and gentle with cats. However, Lily would prefer a home without children or with older children. She is gentle and appropriate with children, but just would prefer not to live with them.

Lily is learning some basic commands and has her perfect 'sit' down pat. She loves to snuggle and be near her people but she prefers to sleep close to her loved ones on her own dog bed as opposed to sleeping with her humans. We think she is an amazing girl especially since she has not had the greatest life up until she was pulled into rescue. Lily came to us obviously uncared for and neglected in her former situation. Sadly she ended up with heartworms but has now had treatment. She spent several weeks recovering from treatment but is now healthy and available for adoption.

Lily is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, and microchipped. Our beautiful red girl is prettier than a picture and a dream come true. If you want sweet, calm, loving, well behaved forever friend and companion then Lily is the one who will make you feel alright. We have no doubt that she will a wonderful forever and always part of your life. We bet you see yourself and Lily together in your dreams.

PLEASE REMEMBER: The specific breed of any dog abandoned to
shelter is the best guess by seasoned rescuers in accord with our veterinarians.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination.

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella, Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming.

Spay/Neuter.

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
