Datou is sweet-temperament, stable, calm, and obedient young pup. We don't know what mix breed he is, but he sure is a handsome boy, with beautiful fluffy, shiny coat and cute looking short legs than average dogs of his size. He is very friendly with strangers and children; he gets along with dogs and cats too. Datou enjoys family life and the company of other dogs and cats in his foster home very much; he is potty trained and walks well on leash. Deep in his heart, he‘s longing for love and be cherished by people. Please watch Datou’s videos to know him better.

Rescue Story

Our first encounter with Datou was back in 2012 when he was only a few months old stray puppy, fed in the park by friendly park goers. He was taken by a TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release) group and released back to the park after surgery. We did not see him after then, until one year later he showed up again in the park.

Datou being a friendly pup, he made many friends and was fed well. Sometimes he even got sheltered at someone’s home in bad weathers, but only temporarily. His stray life lasted for another two years. During then he met Jin-Mao, another stray who’s blind on one eye, they soon became best buddies. Jin-Mao being a blind stray dog, easily won sympathy from people and got adopted. Datou was left in the park alone again.

The rescuer felt so sad for Datou, since he is a sweet-temperament and loving dog but was not able to have a real home he’s been longing for since puppy hood. Thankfully, the rescuer found him a foster home, where he was taught basic commands and good house manners. Daotou is ready for adoption; he is patiently waiting for his own forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Datou, a San Mateo Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Golden Retriever for sale in San Mateo, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in San Mateo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Mateo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Mateo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Golden Retriever breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Mateo paves the way for another one to be saved.
