found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
We have seen a lot of dogs at local shelters, and each of them have their own unique way of handling being in the sheltering environment. Some run straight to the kennel door, tails wagging, tongues hanging out, as if they have no idea of where they are. Then there are dogs that cower in the background. They are terrified and you can feel their shut down desire to just disappear.
And then......there are dogs like Charleigh. She had the perfect, and appropriate behavior we like to see in a dog in a scary environment. She sat in the back of her kennel, happy that we were paying her attention, but painfully aware that the loud and scary surroundings were not where she wanted to be. We love to see a dog with some common sense like Charleigh had. Sensitive but not shut down....perceptive.
We got Charleigh out of her kennel and took her into a visiting room at the shelter. At first, she was unsure, but one squeak of a toy and some treats out of my bag and quickly we had a new friend. She loved every minute of the attention. It was time to go and we had to put her back in her kennel. She looked at us with sadness in her eyes and leaned her entire body against those metal bars. It was as if she was saying "I'll be good I promise, please let me come home with you." We promised her we would be back for her. We made good on our promise and are so proud to have this wonderful girl a part of our rescue.
Charleigh is good with kids and other dogs and is about 1 1/2 years old. She weighs right around 25 lbs, so she's a good size - not too little, not too big. We think that this sweet, tender hearted girl would make the perfect addition to any family.
