My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Sacramento- Beretta Bess' owner took her and her brother to Placer County Animal Services where they were turned away as the shelter is too full for owner surrenders. The owner said that he would go home and shoot them. There ended up being a LONG conversation between an amazing volunteer, who contacted me, the owner and the director of the shelter. On top of saying he would shoot them, he also sa id that she would bark and it would make him mad and he would take it out on her, so he chained her on the yard to be better for her. In front of the director, he said he would kill them, he beat them and he chained them. She told him it was against the law to chain dogs, but never once offered to bring the dogs into the shelter or anything else. Mind you he has another litter currently (he doesn't know how she keeps getting pregnant and told her to go get herself spayed) and so we need to work on getting those as well. For now, we have these two stinky, unsocialized and afraid- but very sweet. We are told they are 9 months old, Yorkie, Lhasa apso and rat terrier mixes. She is 10 pounds and won't need grooming. She did not go potty in the puppy pen I had her set up in, and went outside when taken out. I have a feeling, no one will see her true personality for several weeks or months.

She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and dewormed. You can find our adoption process online and apply at:
