Sacramento- Winchester's owner took him and his sister to Placer County Animal Services where they were turned away as the shelter is too full for owner surrenders. The owner said that he would go home and shoot them. There ended up being a LONG conversation between an amazing volunteer who contacted me, the owner and the director of the shelter. On top of saying he would shoot them, he also said that the female would bark and it would make him mad and he would take it out on her, so he chained her on the yard to be better for her. In front of the director, he said he would kill them, he beat them and he chained them. She told him it was against the law to chain dogs, but never once offered to bring the dogs into the shelter or anything else. So they came to us. Stinky, unsocialized and afraid- but very sweet. We are told they are 9 months old, Yorkie, Lhasa Apso and Rat Terrier mixes. He is about 11 pounds and we still need to work on some grooming but I think he will not need grooming going forward. He didn't love the crate, but was fine in the pen, didn't go to the bathroom in the pen (but marked all over outside so not sure if he would mark inside although now that he is neutered, hopefully that will stop).
He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and dewormed. You can find our adoption process online and apply at:
