Do you see something special about this cat? Look again! Brooke''s left eye was badly damaged upon her arrival at the shelter and had to be removed. We think she still looks adorable! She also came in with three adorable kittens (who have all been adopted) and took great care of them. She''s been through a lot and is ready for her forever home now.
Brooke has tested positive for FIV, a virus that reduces the ability of a cat''s immune system to fight off other infections. FIV is NOT contagious to humans. However, it is contagious to other cats, so FIV cats must live alone or with other FIV positive cats.
FIV-positive cats can live normal lives, both in quality and duration. They just need to be monitored for infections and dental issues. But if they''re well cared for they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets. Brooke with have the best chance at a long life with an owner who can do the following:
*Keep her indoors to keep her from contacting an illness
*Monitor any changes in her health closely with regular vet visits and medications as needed
*Feed her a high-quality diet with lots of nutrients
Brooke in an incredible cat who is super affectionate and deserves a loving home as much as any other cat. It would be our pleasure to talk to you about her and how your home can become her forever home.
