My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Tango's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal New Mexico shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Tango tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how incredibly cute and sweet this Poodle mix is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Tango became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great temperament that held every possibility for a great future.

This could be one of the most awful photos of a beautiful dog that we've ever received. Through this incredibly matted image, you can see that Tango is a gorgeous guy who is waiting for a sudsy bath and a stylish haircut. We'll update with a new photo if Tango is lucky enough to be groomed prior to his transport.

At just 18 - 24 months old and 13 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Tango to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it.

Positive reinforcement group obedience class will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Tango and his family. He's so smart that he's a natural to succeed in learning his skills...and would be so excited at his success!

Tango gets lots of attention at the shelter because he's got such a great personality. He's engaging (while a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. Tango appears to be a Poodle/Havanese mix but we would never swear to it. He's just an adorable and fun non-shedding scruffy pup that's irresistible!

When Tango turns that gentle look in your direction (with those amazing dark and expressive eyes), you can't help but smile at his adorable ways. You can see a bit of a sign that this young pup has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Tango 's style once he's acclimated to his new environment. It's clear that he is working hard on leaving any pain behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult or retired family for Tango. It's not that he actively doesn't like young kids..it just appears that Tango is more comfortable around quieter energy. A retired couple or individual or a person working at home would be perfect for this guy. He would thrive on the time and attention that these groups often put into their pets. Tango, once bonded, will be a loyal and very loving companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Tango would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you weigh just 13 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs.

Tango is a very happy guy once he's comfortable...a bit of patience, treats and belly rubs will truly get this guy's attention as he's had far too little of all in his life. Tango's rescuer is very happy to report that he is coming out of his shell more each day...he's blossoming. She's very clear that Tango will be a wonderful and bonded family member when he has love and nurturing as a part of his life.

Tango will not be neutered when he arrives in Denver - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this part of Kansas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Tango's neuter and microchip immediately after his arrival if our Denver vet is used.

Tango is a non-shedding guy with the softest, most beautiful coat! He will therefore require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free.

Tango will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 11/8/16. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly guy, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
