Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What is your name?
Genesis
How old are you?
About 2-3 years old.
How much do you weigh?
About 55 pounds.
What do you look like?
A compact hippo with funny looking ears. I am a short and stout bully mix. White with grey freckles and big spots. Oh, and have you seen my butt? I'm told it's one of the cutest things EVER! I like to wiggle it ALL THE TIME.
What do you like to eat?
Pretty much anything. My foster mom says I'm a really good eater.
What kind of personality do you have?
I'm a huge LOVEBUG!! I'm also pretty playful. I love toys and chasing balls. But, I really love people -- all shapes and sizes. I give the best hugs. I'm a really, really good hugger.
Describe your perfect day:
Hanging out with my foster mom and foster bros. Catching a few naps here and there, and some ball chasing. One of my favorite things is my chuck-it ball. I chew on it a lot, but sometimes marrow bones. I was in the shelter a long time, and haven't really had a family until my foster family. My perfect day would definitely be finding my forever home.
What is your favorite toy?
See above. I like lots of different toys, but my absolute favorite is my chuck-it ball. I sometimes fall asleep with it in my mouth.
Do you know any tricks?
I do know how to sit. I'm in obedience training now with my foster mom, and doing really well. I am pretty good at polite leash walking, so I know how to stop on command, and I'm learning how not to pull. Oh, and I know how to take the stairs like 2-3 at a time....does that count as a trick?
What scares you?
I'm a super tough boy, but the only thing that really scares me is being left alone.
Have you been around children? Do you like them?
Yep!
Do you like cats?
To chase? Sure. I should probably not be in a home with cats, I guess.
How do you feel about other dogs?
I'm pretty good with most other dogs of all sizes!
How is your health?
I am pretty healthy! I did get jumped by a couple mean dogs a few months ago, and almost died. My eardrums got ruptured, so I sometimes get infections, but I made such a great recovery, my vet thinks my name is REGENESIS!
Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
A big crate. It's my own room.
Where do you sleep?
See above. I love my room...I mean crate.
Do you like walking on a leash?
Yessssss!
Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard?
My foster mom says I'm a good boy, so not really. I sometimes whimper/whine when my mom leaves, or I can hear her outside and not with me. Oh, and the jumping thing. I'm working on that too, but that's about it.
Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside)
Yep!
Do you like water?
Not really....no.
What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
Not so great. I was in the shelter a long time, and then some mean people at the shelter thought I should be euthanized. They didn't say why. But, I made so many friends at the shelter who loved me so much, they refused to let it happen. So that's when NBBR came to get me. They got me sorta adopted right before I was supposed to be euthanized. I really liked my new adopters & they loved me. But, there was a bad accident where 2 dogs attacked me, and I ended up in the hospital. NBBR found me a new foster mom, and I have been a happy boy ever since.
NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a "first come, first serve" basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$350. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).
The adoption fee for Genesis is $200.
