Abandoned. This dog was found in a vacated home with no food, no water, nothing left to help with her care. She was lucky that it had not been a long time before the neighbors called Animal Control about her as her fate would have likely been much worse than finding herself in a shelter. But, the fact was, this particular shelter allows ONLY seven days before they euthanize the dogs. Three days they are not available for adoption or rescue as they allow "reclaim" time for a possible owner.....so, that leaves only FOUR DAYS to be saved by rescue or adopted.

So, at the eleventh hour we learned about this sweet shy girl and no question we wanted to add her to our DIAMOND DOG family.

Lucy Girl is a hound/shepherd mix that's about 25lbs and around five months old- just a baby, really. She's now up to date on all vaccines, spayed, microchipped and ready to find a home that will show her what it's like to have some care......much unlike her first five months of life! Currently in foster in PA with one of our best families.

If you've been looking for a sweet NON hyper young dog, consider Lucy. She's a very special girl.

About Diamond Dogs Rescue Inc - NJ Chapter

About Our Rescue Group...

Our rescue focus is on adult dogs from the southeast that are in high kill shelters. Our plan is to fully vet as needed, evaluate and train as needed in preparation for adoption. We place our rescues in a foster home setting to prepare our dogs for a home of their own and to determine the best match for that rescue. Please keep in mind that a rescues are located in foster homes up the east coast. They can be transported to their forever home

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our dogs are all in foster care throughout NJ , and New England and various other locations. We do NOT have a physical location for your to visit our dogs, They are seen by appointment in foster homes.

We require an application to be filled out by all adopters. We require 3 references plus a vet reference as well as a home visit.Once you have been approved for adoption by filling out an application completing a home visit and having your references checked, we will put you in touch with the foster to meet the dog with your family. Sometimes we will do a home visit and bring the dog to the home visit after your application is approved.
