Meet Bruce.... a very handsome, a 2 year old, male Cattle dog mix who is need of a new place to call home. Bruce was found wearing a Batman collar, but it would have been more helpful if he had some form of identification that would have lead us to his owners.

Just like the winged crusader himself, Bruce is very intelligent, rugged, athletic and very clever. Bruce is really a unique dog with a working-dog type personality. Daily walks and squeaky toy play time are some of Bruce's favorite things to do. He often joyfully squirms on his back as a happy, playful ritual. He is very social and outgoing. Bruce has also been successfully evaluated by an Australian Cattle dog rescue, but he has been patiently waiting for a foster home to take him in.

Bruce doesn't need a Bat Cave in Gotham City, but he will need a home where he has strong leadership and someone that understands the nature of his breed. An active family is a must and one that will maintain his intellectual level of training. Bruce has a higher doggie dominance level, and for now, he would benefit from being the only dog in the household.

If you think that Bruce could be the dog for you... no need to send a Bat Signal... just call or email us at West Hartford Animal Control 860-570-8818 or Animalcontrol@westhartfordCT.gov. to learn more.

About West Hartford Animal Control

About Our Shelter...

We are a municipal based Animal Control facility. We work directly for a Police Department as law enforcement officers. Not only do we enforce state/ local animal laws, but we are responsible for the care and adoption of the animals that are impounded. Although we are a small facility with a small staff, we usually have many dogs in need of homes at one time. We strive for the best possible match for both adopters and adoptable pets. We believe that matching the adopters needs with the needs of the animal is a recipe for a long lasting companionship.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The Animal Control Facility is not staffed at all times, so be sure to call us first about any interest you may have in a particular advertised animal.

Our Adoption Process...

$50 adoption fee for any non-altered dog or cat. The adoption fee includes a voucher towards the spay/neuter of the pet as well two vaccines. This voucher is to be used at one of the various participating veterinarians within the state of CT.
Please call us if your interested in a particular advertised animal. We would love to discuss if this animal is a potential match for you and possibly set up an appointment at that time.
