Buffy, Lucy and Jewel are a bonded trio of guinea pigs who probably are sisters. These adorable Abyssinians are about 10 months and although shy and a little nervous they are well socialized. They scream loudly in unison when they hear a plastic bag, which they assume must contain a snack for them!

Buffy is often, but not always, the leader. She is brown, black and white. Lucy is white with some black and cream. She is the shiest of the three but has been known to steal veggies from her sisters. Jewel is black and white and very curious, but needs time to come out of her shell. All three are healthy and appear to have been well cared for.

The three girls were left at a local Buddhist temple early one morning. They were in a basket they could have easily climbed out of, but lucky for them, a nun praying at the temple heard the door open and shut and went to investigate. She took them in and took wonderful care of them. Although she immediately fell in love with them, she lived in a house with three dogs and wanted them to go to a loving family where they will be the center of attention.

Buffy, Lucy and Jewel have an excellent appetite and enjoy fresh vegetables, piles of hay and Oxbow Cavy Performance pellets every day. The threesome will need to live in a Cubes and Coroplast cage of at least 2 cubes by 4 cubes and be in a family part of the house so everyone can enjoy their company. We also ask that anyone adopting them lives a reasonable driving distance from Rockville or Mt. Airy, MD.

The adoption fee for Buffy, Lucy and Jewel will be $105 as they are all intact females. If you are interested in finding out more about adopting this sweet trio of guinea pigs, please send an e-mail to guineapigs@smallangelsrescue.org.

About Small Angels Rescue Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Small Angels was founded in fall of 2003 when the organizers recognized a need for a group to help small animals abandoned at animal shelters. The Rescue was founded as a way to move these animals into foster homes for socialization and proper, attentive care, as well as streamline the adoption process and provide accurate, thorough information to adopters about these often misunderstood animals.

Small Angels is a 501(3)(3) nonprofit, no‐kill, all‐volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils. Animals are acquired directly via public surrenders and from local shelters and animal welfare groups. We use an extensive network of foster homes to care for the animals until we can find them a forever home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Small Angels Rescue does not have a physical shelter—we care for animals through our network of foster care homes. We have monthly adoption events at the Frederick Petco and various Bark locations in Montgomery County. Not all breeds are brought to adoption events. Most adoptions take place at the animal's foster home or at an animal coordinator's house.

Our Adoption Process...

Small Angels Rescue’s adoption process is straightforward. Adopters must fill out an adoption application. There is an application for guinea pigs and a separate application for other animals. Once we have the completed application, we interview the adopter by phone or e-mail to clear up any questions and concerns about the application—including whether the adopter meets our cage requirements and has the proper supplies—and to ensure that the adopter has all of the information needed to properly care for the animal. At the time of adoption, adopters must sign an adoption contract.

Adoption fees: Mice, Gerbils, Hamsters & Rats: $10 each for the first three animals, then $5 each thereafter. Guinea Pigs: $35 each unaltered, $45 neutered males, $55 spayed females.
