Facts about Kelly

  • Breed: Golden Retriever/Shepherd (Unknown Type) Mix
  • Color: Tan/Yellow/Fawn
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female

Meet Kelly! She's about 6-7 months old and available for adoption. We
believe she's a Golden Retriever / German Shepherd mix girl. She
currently weighs about 30 pounds and will be medium sized when full
grown. She's a little low to the ground so we don't believe she will be
tall as an adult. She and her brother, Gene, were abandoned in a home
when their family moved off and left them locked inside with no food or
water. They lived in the house like this for several days before being
rescued. Both are very sweet and loving with people. They like playing
with other dogs. They do have a little food insecurity due to being
starved. This may resolve with some time and knowing they won't be
abandoned again. Both pups have been fully vetted and are ready for
their forever homes. They are bonded siblings but can be split up for
adoption. Kelly is the female and is a golden red, her brother is Gene
and is a white in color. We are guessing on their breed mix based on
their appearance. They are not house, leash or crate trained at this
time. Bringing in a new puppy is like brining in a newborn baby ~ they
take all your time, money and energy and will go through chewing phases.
Please keep this in mind when adopting a puppy.
To apply for this rescue, please use this address in a new window - or you can email us directly at We respond to all inquiries within 24 hours so if
you do not receive a reply, please check your Spam folder. If a puppy is
posted for adoption, they are available unless they are marked pending.
Once your application is approved, we require a deposit of $150
(non-refundable) to be paid to hold your puppy. Should the puppy not be
available to transport, your deposit is refunded. The balance of the
adoption fee is required prior to your transport date. Our Adoption Fee
is $425 total including deposit and helps to reimburse for the vet care
we have provided. It also includes transport by a USDA licensed
transporter. We only use direct transports to reduce the length of time
our rescues are on the road to their new homes. If you reside in a
mandated quarantine State (MA & NH) you must comply with your States
requirement of placing your new pup in a licensed quarantine for the
period required by law for your State. Quarantine states usually require
a 2 night stay in a licensed facility. This is required by law in some
states and has nothing to do with our rescue. We work with a licensed
quarantine facility in each state that requires it. These costs are not
included in the adoption fee and usually run about $100 (NH) & $120
(MA). All of our rescues are fully vetted to include ~ Spay/Neuter with
exam and including blood work if needed and by a full service
Veterinarian, all vaccinations including bordatella and rabies, multiple
wormings with Drontal Plus, monthly heart worm and flea/tick
preventatives and microchipping. The puppies are fostered in Little
Rock, Arkansas and are transported to their adoptive home once vetted
and age appropriate. This rescue is available for transport after
11/17/16. Additional photos and information can be found on our FB page

About For Dogs Sake

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, volunteer organized and run dog rescue. We work with shelters and rescue groups in AR & AL to find homes for their locally unwanted, but highly loveable puppies and dogs. The pups and dogs are brought to New England on transport once their vaccinations are up to date for travel. We are always in need of foster homes for our pups; the more we have, the more pups can be saved.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Appointments can be made to visit some pups at their foster homes at mutually convenient times for adopters and foster parents. (The pups are up for a visit anytime!)

Our Adoption Process...

We require the potential adopter to fill out an application form and tell us about what life would be like as a puppy at your house. The address to the adoption form can be found in the pups' bio. Once the application is received, we will check your references and then contact you for an informal "phone interview." If it is mutually determined to be a good match, an adoption contract is sent via email. Our adoption fee is stated in their bios, and is due at the time of adoption. A signed and dated adoption contract is due at puppy pick up.
