I'm Joe and I'm a 12-year old brown tabby cat who has been surrendered to the shelter because my owner could no longer care for me. I'm very friendly and still very active. I love to play, so stock up on toys! I'm pretty affectionate--I can find your lap in a nanosecond! I do like to go outside for a little snoop around once in a while, so a cat door would be nice, but not necessary. Just give me love, affection, treats and toys and I'm all in!!

You may take me home for a donation to the shelter's wish list. Come, donate, me!!

About Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

We are an animal shelter that cares for approximately 1,000 animals per year. We work with Mahaska County and the City of Oskaloosa, IA to provide animal control services and we also work through the Mahaska Humane Society to educate and promote responsible pet ownership as well as low cost spay/neuter services for low income pet owners.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The public can visit our adoptable pets at the Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter any time during normal business hours. We are open to the public Tuesday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-4pm.

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters must complete a pre-adoption application in which questions regarding responsible pet ownership are asked. Once approved the adopter is allowed to adopt and must pay an adoption fee which varies based on the age and species of the animal being adopted. At the time of adoption the adopter must sign an adoption contract. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
