This curious cat is Katara. Katara is a timid little angel who is looking for someone calm, patient, and forgiving. This little bundle of fur has been trying very hard to get over her fear of people, and needs someone to give her endless amounts of attention & love so she can comfortably come out of her shell and become the ray of sunshine we have come to know. Katara sometimes has a hard time making up her mind as to whether she is shy or outgoing, but when she feels comfortable she will come out of her Hide-And-Perch and roll over in her bed or swat at a little dangly toy. She is a curious girl that will come out to the front of her bed and stare at you curiously while you are working in the room. If you are interested in Katara, or would like to know more, please inquire with a staff member for details.

About Our Shelter...

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
