Odin's Story...
Chihuahua Mix
Age: Approx 6 year old
Male, Neutered
7 lbs

Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations)

Odin (and several other dogs) were rescued from a house fire in Hayward. Once the cause of the fire was determined to be due to illegal activity, the dogs were confiscated and taken to the Hayward shelter.

Odin (a.k.a. "Yin-Yin") has an old eye injury that resulted in the eye missing but it looks like it was never medically treated. We had the vet remove the remainder of the eye, clean-up the socket and seal the lid. He was also neutered and had an extensive dental cleaning with extractions.

He spent a couple months in the shelter looking for his forever home, but no one was interested - maybe due to his missing eye, not sure.

Odin is a happy, friendly, playful little guy. He seems to do well with other dogs his size. We don't know how he does with kids or cats, yet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Odin, a San Leandro Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in San Leandro, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in San Leandro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Leandro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Leandro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Leandro paves the way for another one to be saved.
