This is our mama Dory from the Hurdland MO pound. She is very thin and was found with 8 puppies in an abandoned house. Sadly 5 of her puppies died before coming to our rescue. Dory is deaf and she had to have around the clock supervison with her puppies. She could not tell that she was suffocating them as she could not hear their cries. Dory's 3 beautiful puppies have found homes and now it is time for Dory. Dory has not liked other dogs in her foster home but most mama dogs are protective of their pups. We are unsure how she will be in the future so she needs a foster or adoptive home committed to keeping Dory safe until it can be determined. She is doing well with hand signals for commands and is a very loving dog. Dory has food aggression which is understandable as she was starved almost to death and became very emaciated feeding her puppies when she had no food at the abandoned house. She will need a place to eat away from other dogs and children. Our hope is her food aggression will subside after she realizes she has consistant meals.Dory has been around school age children in her foster home. Dory is a great dog that is recovering from her abuse of being abandoned. If you can foster or are interested in adopting Dory, please contact ARFF MO at 660-248-2733 or fill out the appropriate form on our website www.arffmo.org.

About ARFF MO

About Our Rescue Group...

ARFF MO's mission is to promote public safety through education about responsible pet care as an alternative to banning breeds of dogs. We focus on education, legislation, and rescue to accomplish our goals. We rescue Pit Bull type dogs that are on "death row" due to breed specific legislation from the Fayette Dog Pound., We try to help other local dogs affected by BSL when possible. ARFF MO was created after the Fayette City Council passed a Pit Bull ban in Feb. 2009. We post pictures of our re-homed "death row dogs" on our website to educate the public about the true nature of these unfairly targeted for eradication pets.
