Buddy is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu who is very sweet and loves to cuddle. He gets along with the other dogs in the house, although he has glaucoma and doesn't see well, and gets briefly excited when he bumps into them. He settles down once he sniffs them and recognizes them. He is fully vetted and has been in his current foster home for 3 months. His vision issue doesn't keep him from enjoying life. His ideal home would be one where he is loved and has a stable arrangement so that he can find his way around without bumping into things. Because of his vision issue, he would be fine with older children, but probably not with toddlers. Please call Angel at (865)274-0812 or e-mail buddy@shelteranimalsrescue.org. [Posted 11/7/2016]

About Shelter Animals Rescue Group (SARG)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a small, all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue group, with emphasis on mixed-breed dogs and cats. We adopt primarily from our local animal shelter, although we occasionally take in hardship cases. We also assist individuals in our area by advertising on our website animals they need to rehome, if the animals have been spayed/neutered. We gratefully accept donations, and we need volunteers for many events. More than anything, we need foster homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

As a volunteer group, we do not have a facility. Our animals reside in foster homes and boarding kennels. We show them regularly at the PetSmart store on Parkside Drive in Knoxville the second Friday of each month, 4 to 8 p.m., as well as by appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

Cat adoption fee is $125, and $145 for dogs. We attempt to match the animal's characteristics with the family and their lifestyle. We require an application form, which becomes part of the adoption contract, a personal or phone interview, veterinarian reference if applicable, home visit, and an additional agreement about how the animal will be treated. Cats must be indoors only, not declawed. Dogs must be fenced or leashed when outdoors and treated as part of the family--indoors as much as possible, and always at night. Adopter agrees to provide regular veterinary care, and to return the animal to us if they ever give it up. We reserve the right to check on the animal's welfare from time to time, with appropriate notice.
