Tom is a gorgeous young cattle dog, looking for a more appropriate home. He is a true cattle dog! He likes herding things. Currently the only thing he has to herd are children which isn't working for his owners. Tom loves their daughter, but is distressed by her friends.

Tom would do best in a home where he got an abundance of exercise each day. He loves long runs, the beach, dog park, and going for rides in the car. Tom lived with another dog, a senior, until that dog passed away.

Again, Tom is a Cattle Dog. This breed was designed to work cattle ALL DAY, which means they have drive, tenacity, and endurance. This is a breed for an active person. They also require some one with a"take charge" energy. After all this is a 30lb. dog that thru sheer will can herd a 2000 lb cow. This is not a breed for some one who is not willing to be in charge. Tom is looking for that person to be his human. He is very comfortable with his current family. Loving and loyal, but not getting the guidance he needs to accept new people coming to his home.

If Tom sounds like the running partner/dog you are looking for, and you would like an opportunity to adopt, send in an application along with your interest (bottom of the page: http://cchdrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html)

and email to: info@cchdrescue.org

About Central Coast Herding Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Central Coast Border Collie and Herding Dog Rescue is a Rescue Alliance partner, a federally recognized 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to finding great dogs great homes. County of San Luis Obispo Animal Service Operating Permit #C2649

Central Coast Border Collie Rescue (CCBCRescue) is dedicated to helping find homes for Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Australian Cattle Dogs/Queensland Heelers and other herding breeds and mixes. This site lists dogs in shelters as well as dogs in homes and foster care, and is intended to help adopters seeking good dogs, and dogs seeking loving homes. Why we do it: Herding dogs are not for every one. Too many adopters get these dogs as status symbols only to find out, their life style doesn't meet these high energy dogs needs. As a result, these wonderful misunderstood dogs wind up in shelters. We understand what drives these dogs, we can place them appropriately. Our mission is to educate people and save dogs. We do it because we love these dogs, with a little effort, can give them a good new life. Euthanasia is not the solution to out animal overpopulation issue. Education is.

Our Adoption Process...
