My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Colleen is an energetic and clever pup. She can unbuckle her sister’s collar without leaving a mark and unpick a double-knotted shoe-lace without damaging the lace! Born between June and July 2016, she is a Rhodesian-Ridgeback mix puppy with a lot of growing left to do. Like her sister, Sheila, she seems in a bit of a hurry to get there as she is growing like a weed! That means within a year she should end up long-legged and elegant, likely more than 60 lbs. While a fenced in yard is a must for this breed, a good walk once a day will suffice to keep her healthy and happy. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are known for their laid-back temperament. As long as they know you are home, they are content to find a favorite spot for a nap. Their favorite activity is lying in the sun to work on their tans and letting you know that FEDEX is delivering a package to the front door. While affectionate, they are not demanding. They will not be in your face all the time insisting upon your attention. These are among the most beautiful dogs on Earth. And everyone will tell you so when they see them.

On the street with her sister for an unknown period of time, Colleen arrived at her foster home emaciated, but ready to love anyone. Her ordeal has had no negative effects on her personality even at the start. She easily adapted to her new environment with two grown Ridgebacks. She loves her crate and, if shown where to go and not left too long, has no housetraining issues. She has had little formal training, however. She is currently learning to walk on a leash, to sit and to behave like a lady.

For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.youluckydogrescue.org and read our Adoption FAQ's and Before You Adopt documents. In addition you can complete an online adoption application from our website. You can also email info@youluckydogrescue.org for additional details.

Our adoption fee is $300 and includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter and microchipping. The breed and age included in this listing is based upon the opinion of a vet that has examined the dog. We cannot confirm the age of the dog unless the dog was born in the care of the rescue. We are located in the metro Atlanta area. We currently do not allow out of state adoptions as a home check is required as part of the adoption process.
