Sharona Bassett Buddy's Story...
I'm One of Bassett Buddies Transport!
My husband and I have always held a deep affection for dogs. In our view they are, perhaps, God's most precious and perfect creations. They give without asking, love without question, and never judge. Their affection and devotion is complete. These beautiful traits that dogs seem to have by nature serve as examples that we humans could spend a lifetime trying to emulate. We feel a strong desire to help those innocent dogs who have, by no fault of their own, found themselves in need of our care and support. We are delighted and honored to be able to help in this way. Always, Betsy Bassett
Sharona was born about November 9, 2011 and weighs about 13 lbs. Sharona and four others came to us from a very bad situation in West Virginia. They were in extremely nasty living conditions, and one of the females, Queen Sheba, came to us pregnant because they were all locked in the same room with Barkley, so we now have four little surprise bundles whose lives were also saved as a result of this joint mission. Volunteers with ALIVE, a group for the humane treatment of animals in the area, were at the scene when State Police arrived and forced entry, and the five dogs were immediately placed in foster care. Their foster mom knew that we often help their county shelter by pulling dogs, and she was thrilled when we told her we'd get them transported that weekend, tend to their veterinary care, and find them loving forever homes!
This entire group of dogs are sweeties, never nippy, a bit shy at first probably due to all the changes in their lives so quickly, and they are wiggly, happy, and majorly cute! Due to their circumstances we have no clue of their level of house training and often these tiny dogs struggle throughout their lives and potty floor pads may need to be in their future. We do want to be clear that all these dogs DO shed. Truly, these dogs should go to a home with another dog buddy as they've always had a dog buddy in the past. Also, most of them came in with hair loss and bacterial infections of the skin from the environment and fleas. They are healing, it will take time.
The Adoption Fee for this dog is $375.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
