Facts about Abbie

  • Breed: Chihuahua Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Female
Abbie is 10 year old chihuahua with an old soul and an independent spirit. She's a sweet, petite, special-needs girl who has a lot of life and love left to give. She is a laid-back and relaxed kinda girl who loves her people and a nice dog companion. She isn't the wrestle and romp type, but appreciates the company all the same. She hasn't been seen around cats before. If there are kids in the house, they need to be old enough to handle such a tiny package. While in fine shape physically, she has some neurological issues that affect her back end. You'll see she walks with a slight limp. It does not stop her from getting around, she just doesn't get there as quickly. While house trained, the neurological issues prevent full control of her elimination faculties. She knows to do her duty outside and does her best to make it so people who are home a lot would be a great fit for her. This amazing girl would love a home that could give her the extra attention and care she needs. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $150. Apply to adopt her here: https://rescueofhope.com/adoption-application/.

About Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Hearts of Hope's mission is to save homeless unwanted dogs. Pet overpopulation is a global crisis. Our local animal shelters are full of wonderful dogs that just need more time and help finding the right home. Many of our dogs come from these local kill shelters and others come from urgent rescue situations spanning as far as Beirut, Lebanon. Hearts of Hope strives to help as many dogs as possible. If we are able, we will help. We know we can't save them all, but it matters to the ones we can save.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue located in Grand Rapids, MI. It was founded by Director, Janelle McFarlane November 23, 2011. Our rescue dogs are provided with the best possible vet care, a safe place to stay and the love they deserve. We do not have a shelter facility. Our volunteer foster homes take these wonderful dogs into their homes until we find their forever families. Our organization is devoted to helping dogs in need and works diligently to find them loving forever homes where they can happily live out the rest of their lives.

Our Adoption Process...

1. The first step is completing our application at www.rescueofhope.com.

2. If your application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit interview. We will bring the dog over for a visit and conduct and interview with you.

3. Then we will both take a day to consider whether it is the right home for the dog.

4. If everyone is in agreement, the adoption will take place and you will sign an adoption contract and commit to giving our rescue dog a forever home.

We are a non-profit organization. Our adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and they range from $150-$300. Our fees help us cover our dog's vet care, food, supplies and other expenses to keep the rescue running. All dogs must be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, tested for heartworms, vaccinated and wormed as appropriate for age and checked for fleas prior to or within 30 days of adoption.

Note: There are no refunds on adoption fees. Adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and are tax decuctible.
