Hank Lula's Story...
Thank you Emma Morrill !
These dogs were saved due to the generous sponsorship from Emma Morrill in loving memory of her dog, Lula. Here is Lula's story: 'I adopted Tallulah, who was already an adult dog, from a nearby pound. Her Petfinder ad described her as 'a long haired beauty with a sunny disposition,' and that proved to be precisely true. Lula quickly became my velcro dog -- and, for nine years, she was my constant companion. When Tallulah left us (late May, 2015), she was about 14 years old. She had been suffering from Canine Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) through the final year and a half of her life. DM is a progressive neurological disorder that affects dogs in much the same way that Multiple Sclerosis affects humans; supposedly, it's not terribly painful, but becomes horribly debilitating as it progresses. At the end of her life, Tallulah gradually lost the use of her hindquarters. Still, over and and over, our brave, happy, strong girl continued to rally -- and, in essence, her illness only served to strengthen my already very close bond with her. Any time or attention that I was able to give to her paled in comparison to the gifts that Lula had given to me over our nine years together. I wanted to sponsor a transport to honor her beautiful spirit and to raise awareness of the terrible disease that ultimately took her from us.' Emma Morrill
Hank was born about September 16, 2016 and 'may' end up weighing in the 20 lb. range. Truly we are only guessing as we have no clue of parentage. These puppies have been raised in a loving foster home and have thrived since their arrival. Hank is very adventurous and very busy. He is the first to do everything and they suspect he will be finding the dog door before too long. He should have another active, playful, dog in his next home as he is the last to settle down, but the first to eat! We want to warn you that small dogs often have potty problems throughout life and floor potty pads may be a necessity. The Adoption Fee for this dog is $375.00.
Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a 'complete' pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES
We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.
Our primary goals here at Joyful Rescues are to re-home pets and save them from becoming homeless in the future, educate the public on pet care and spaying/neutering to control the pet overpopulation, to spay/neuter every pet before they leave us and spay/neuter as many pets, belonging to the public, as possible within our means.
