About Companion Connection
About Our Rescue Group...
We are an Elgin based rescue group made up of volunteers that strives to help reduce the number of loving companion animals that die each day in local shelters due to lack of space and lack of a suitable home.
Currently, there is a three-room sanctuary for cats that has protected outside access for our feline friends. And there is a large, fenced kennel for the dogs with a large fenced play area. Because of the limited space, we cannot take in every animal that comes our way, but we do everything we can to get the animal off the street and into a shelter (if not our own) or foster care. We strive to improve the lives of abused, abandoned and neglected companion animals.
Companion Connection promotes spay and neuter programs as well as the Trap-Neuter-Return program as the only humane method of effectively reducing the feral cat population.
The majority of our companion animals are rescues. They have been saved from abandonment, neglect or abuse. Therefore, many have “special needs” ranging from emotional—needing extra time to get to know you—to dietary needs. Our animals are free to roam about their shelter areas rather than being caged. It is a different type of environment than the typical shelter so the animals are happier and therefore, healthy.
Companion Connection is committed to ensuring humane care and treatment of all animals, protecting the public health and welfare of the citizens of Bastrop County, through education and enforcement of State laws and local orders and showing respect and compassion to all. We promote spay and neuter programs as well as the Trap-Neuter-Return program as the only humane method of effectively reducing the feral cat population.

Our Adoption Process...
Companion Connection has their adoption application on the website, or can be emailed or faxed. Once the application has been reviewed and references checked, a home visit is conducted to ensure the potential adopter's home is ready for the dog or cat being adopted: food area, sleep area; safe environment, fencing, etc. Fees vary for dogs ($50-75) determined by age and/or size and cats are around $40.
