Lulu's Story...
AARF only adopts in Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding area.

Hi, I'm Lulu, a sweet young Sharpei mix about 1-2 years-old. I just arrived at my foster home from a rural shelter, and I think I hit the jack pot. There are FIVE kids in this house, and I love kids more than anything else in this whole world. I love to collapse in their laps and just get love from them, and I will whimper very quietly if a child walks by without stopping to give me love.

I am getting along okay with my canine foster brother, but would prefer to be the only pet in a home. I sometimes can't resist chasing the cats in my foster home, so no kitties, please. I am house trained and crate trained but would love to sleep in the bed with you at night!

When I first came into the shelter, I didn't know what a leash was and would just lie down, but now I love to go for walks, so they are calling me a fast learner. They also say I am a world-class snuggler and a love bug. While kids are my favorite, I love to snuggle with the big people, too.

If you think I might be the right dog for your home and your heart, please contact AARF at aarfva@hotmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lulu, a Richmond Shar Pei dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shar Pei for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Shar Pei dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shar Pei breeders who help with Shar Pei rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
