East's Story...
This girl is a beauty! She was surrendered with 6 other cats. They were strays that had found a lady to feed them, and there they stayed until they came to us. East was one of the first out of that group to show us just how friendly she is. She loves her brother's and sisters, who all seem to support and comfort one another, and it's so sweet to watch! All of these sweeties will be available as barn or house cats, as they once lived outdoors but are so friendly they can quickly adjust to living indoors. If you know of anyone who is looking to keep an outdoor cat, don't hesitate to send them to the Isle of Wight County Animal Shelter! East is awaiting her spay and vaccinations in November. If you are interested in adopting East, call the shelter at 757-365-6318 or email us at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

East, a Windsor Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Windsor, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Windsor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Windsor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Windsor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Windsor paves the way for another one to be saved.
