My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet handsome Rhett Butler! His is a story that will make your heart ache; then sing for joy. This beautiful 8-month-old puppy had a very rough beginning in life. He was picked up as a stray in a dreadful area of a small town in the south and placed in a “dog compound" - not a shelter which operates in the best interest of the dogs - but a place where dogs simply exist. A place where at best accommodations are meager - no beds to lie on, cement that is often wet, and no protection from the elements because the sides are open. Since Rhett is such a sweetheart and did not meet the personality requirements of dogs that are used in that geographical area for other atrocious purposes, we can only assume he was thrown out to fend for himself.

Rhett has experienced a considerable amount of abuse in his short life span that includes broken bones from being severely kicked and a broken right elbow that has healed in an awkward position causing him to walk in a slightly quirky manner with his leg bending inward. However his injuries haven't stopped this little guy from running and playing like any 8-month old puppy. His short little tail has been broken in the middle and has a slight kink in it.

Rhett appears to be a vizla/labrador retriever/terrier mix, but whatever his breed makeup he is one stunning guy! He is neutered and up-to-date on his basic vaccinations. Rhett is blossoming in his new foster home and is great with kids, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks (see photo)!! His favorite activity, other than cuddling and getting tummy rubs, is riding in a golf cart with his human.

Rhett's sad eyes are beginning to sparkle again and he is looking for a forever home filled with love and hopefully a golf cart on the premises!
