Facts about Hazel

  • Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
  • Color: Gray/Silver/Salt & Pepper - With White
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
**Hazel is currently being fostered in Houston, TX. Her adoption will be out-of-state, which means, unfortunately, meeting her prior to her adoption will not be possible. Her adoption donation is $500USD, which covers her flight, a new kennel, and of course she is fully vetted. Because flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**

Our beautiful Hazel found herself as an owner surrender at a local high kill shelter when her family moved and decided not to take her with them. She sat dejected at the shelter for two weeks waiting for them to come back for her. The second we saw her sad shelter video, we could not get there fast enough to bring this amazing girl to safety.

Hazel is a roughly 50 pound Staffordshire. She is around 2 years old and fully grown. She is an ACTIVE girl, who needs a family who understands that she is energetic, must receive daily exercise, and proper mental stimulation. She is a strong girl, but is a total love bug who loves to run and play, watch the trees for squirrels, and then snuggle on the couch with her foster dad.

She is good with other dogs that match her size and energy, but her eagerness to make friends could be a bit off putting to a very calm dog. She has a high prey drive, so we would not advocate her living in a house with feline siblings. She is great out and about in public and loves to go for rides in the car. She is kennel and house trained.

Hazel's ideal family will understand that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new home and life, which could include having accidents, crying in the kennel, and just adjusting in general. Hazel's family will also be adding her to their family to be an integral part of their life and planning to keep her as an inside pet. She should never be left alone unattended outside for extended periods of time - for example the entire workday.

Hazel is fully vetted (spayed, microchipped, vaccinated) and has no health or allergy issues that we are currently aware of.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application via our website www.reggiesfriends.org If you hover over the adoptables tab, the link to the application will appear.

If you have questions about Hazel, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org for more information.

About Reggie's Friends- Seattle

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on helping shelter dogs, street dogs, and dogs who have been abandoned in boarding facilities find loving, forever families. We live and love by our motto #streetlife2sweetlife!

Our Adoption Process...

90% of our adoptions are out-of-state adoptions, meaning meeting the pet prior to adoption is unfortunately not always a possibility. While a bit unconventional, we have adopted over 300 animals to amazing families in the past two years.

The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application. You can access our adoption application through our website at www.reggiesfriends.or. If you hover over the "Adoptables" tab, the application will appear.

Following the application, potential adopters are connected with the animal's foster family for a phone call, or more often, a video chat so that adopters can "meet" the animal and us!

The adoption fee for all dogs is $500, which helps to cover the cost of the flight, a new travel kennel, and their vet care expenses (vetting is completed prior to adoption). Animals will not be flown to their new families until the adoption contract and adoption fee is paid (in full).
