Adopting A Shelter Dog

These dogs come without background histories/ past medical information. We present these dogs as we have observed in relationship to age, size, breed, behavior, housebreaking, crate training, good with children, cats, dogs, and strangers. Dogs may present themselves differently in different environments, therefore The Dog Spot Rescue, their agents, volunteers, can not guarantee behavior, age, size expectations, breed, house Training, destructive behavior tendencies, and/or medical issues. All dogs from shelters have been subjected to pathogens from the shelter level which can materialize into disease in the future.  Each adopter must observe for themselves pre-adoption and make decisions for themselves the suitability of said dog and their tolerance levels for transitional time when adopting a shelter dog.  We ask that each adopter take their time when making the choice to bring home a rescued dog.

Tiny litlle chi looking for love

This teeny tiny Chi came to us as a pregnant shelter dog off the euthanasia list. She was scared, alone, and very sad. We worked hard to bring her back to a happy sweet girl who would be ready for adoption. Her puppy has been adopted months ago and now she is ready to find that 'New Leash on Life.'

Pixie is about 4 or so pounds, very delicately built and very pretty. She loves to snuggle, is excellent with other dogs tall to small (passive) and cats. Been good with the grand children. Children should be respectful and careful but she does enjoy the attention. Pixie would be a great dog for a retired couple or person and she looks great in bling. We have carried her in a sling and taken her on car rides. She has not been a barker here. She appears fairly housebroken once she understands the environment and routine. Here that took a few weeks.
Adoption is $375.00 and includes her spay, shots, rabies, bordetella, de worming treatment, flea meds applied by the vet, heartworm test, and a chip.
If interested in Pixie , please go to: thedogspot.rescuegroups.org and fill out an on line form (see menu) and then contact us for a meet and greet appointment this weekend! thedogspotrescue@aol.com. Little paws crossed!

Your Adoption Fee covers the following expenses: Spay/Neuter, DHLPP, Bordatella, Rabies (if age appropriate), De-worming and Frontline/Advantage

Please Note: Shelter/rescue dogs have been exposed to many pathogens such as kennel cough, parasites, diseases and conditions some of which may not have been discovered prior to adoption. Any dog that shows symptoms here at TDS are routinely identified, taken for tests and treatment. Our vet bills can exceed $10,000 a month. However, without symptoms, we may miss a disease, or pre-existing condition or parasite. Consider carefully if you have the tolerance for these possibilities. We consider, you, the adopters, the last leg of the rescue process.

About The Dog Spot Rescue & Rehabilitation Center

About Our Rescue Group...

They come from overwhelmed, overcrowded shelters, owners in crisis, neglectful situations, or simply abandoned to fend for themselves. Our mission is to eliminate the need for euthanasia, as a means of controlling the overpopulation of dogs, by spaying and neutering and by offering a place for dogs to go where they may rest, recover and be re-homed into a safe nurturing environment.
