FUN CITY DOGS

Saturday, November 19th from 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

2213 Snelling Ave., Minneapolis MN – http://www.funcitydogs.com/

Paws

  • DOB: 5/15/16
  • Requires another dog in home: Yes
  • Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes
  • Requires a fenced yard: No
  • Okay with children under 12 years old: Yes

Drogo is a very handsome and sweet puppy! He loves to play with other dogs in his foster home, both big and small. Drogo is also great with small children. The term "gentle giant" fits him very well. Drogo is shy of adults even though he has no problems with kids. He wants to be friendly and receive affection but is cautious to do so at first. With patience and love he is sure to come out of his shell with you.
Drogo is doing excellent with potty training. He does well following other dogs to go outside and would do best with another dog in his home to make him feel comfortable and to learn from.
Drogo is also doing very well with crate training. He goes in pretty easy most of the time and goes in for the night with a treat. Drogo does well sleeping through the night in his kennel.
Drogo will be a happy go lucky addition to a loving home. Could your home be the one for him?

You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application.

We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Please understand that all of our pets are in foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please email us to confirm attendance.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

To fill out an online adoption application please visit our website  http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/     Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at 952-929-0777 or email us at underdogrescue@petml.com for more information.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.

About Underdog Rescue MN

About Our Rescue Group...

Underdog Rescue and Placement was founded in 2000 by Shannon McKenzie. Having volunteered for several other animal rescue organizations, Shannon saw a need to help the dogs and cats often overlooked by other rescuers, the “Underdogs”

Our very first rescues included a pair of black kittens named Fenway & Wrigley, a pitbull puppy named Lucy and a tiny Toy Poodle named Lily (who was suffering from a head injury). No other rescue groups would take Fenway or Wrigley because black kittens are often overlooked by potential adopters, and, up until the time we rescued Lucy, rescue groups had not been allowed to rescue any dog considered to be a “Pit Bull” from Minneapolis Animal Control.

While in law school, Shannon McKenzie had the “anti-pitbull” policy changed, with the assistance of Attorney, Marshall Tannick. Underdog Rescue continues to successfully rescue and place pitbulls and other “bully-breeds” through a continued partnership with Minneapolis Animal Control.

Shannon’s dedication to the Underdog also extends to puppy mill survivors. Dogs that survive life in a puppy mill often come with a different set of challenges. They may require additional medical care, socialization and teaching of basic dog skills even though some may be adults. Our volunteers understand this and welcome these pets into their homes to show them what life as a dog and life with kind humans is like.

Our Adoption Process...

If you are considering adopting one of our pets, keep in mind that we have several policies regarding placement.

We only adopt to homes within 60 miles of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Only on a case by case basis do we place female dogs in homes with current female dogs.
We will not place our pets in homes with unaltered animals.
We have a strict NO DECLAW policy, where adopters must agree to never declaw adopted cats. For more information on declawing and its alternatives, please visit www.declawing.com
We have a lifetime commitment to our animals, all adopters must agree to return their pets to us if placement is not deemed successful.
We strongly encourage continued socialization and formal obedience training for all dogs under the age of eight.
If you have children younger than 5 years, and do not already have a canine in your home, understand that adding a dog or cat will be like adding a permanent 2 year old to your responsibilities. For this reason, we will only place our pets in homes with children younger than 5 on a case-by-case basis. Keep in mind that completing an adoption contract means you understand that all adoption fees are non-refundable.
