Facts about Patricia

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 418608
  • Hair: Unknown
Patricia came into the care of the SPCA when she and a few of her kittens were found possibly dumped on a rural property. Patricia was initially pretty nervous and scared when coming to the shelter but has relaxed considerably and enjoys laying on her comfy beds or stretching out for her cat naps. She is a beautiful cat that can be affectionate and enjoys being petted but sometimes not for too long at one time. She will certainly let you know when a petting session should be over as she may get overstimulated and nip. She enjoys long, slow pets. Patricia would likely do best in a bit quieter of a home without young children. Older cat savvy teens may be okay. Testing would need to be done to see how Patricia does with other animals. Proper, slow introductions would be very important. She will need some time to adjust to a new home but if you are patient and gentle she will certainly become a wonderful companion.
A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
