This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.

SOS is excited to introduce you to Imogene, who appears to be a brown and tan hound mix who's almost a year and a half. This beautiful girl was found as a stray in Arkansas...she doesn't know how she ended up there, but she does know that she would love a home and family to call her own! She has worked hard on her house manners and is house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. Imogene is a champion tail wagger! She rides well in a car and has a very friendly and calm disposition - and she would love to show you how she can "sit" on command! She has been tested with kids ages 6-18 and loves them. Imogene does have a high prey drive and when outside she tries to go after whatever she catches scent of, but is easily redirected when on the leash. She does not like cats and will definitely go after them even if they don't run from her! Like all dogs, Imogene could benefit from obedience class to help her brush up on her manners. These classes are also a great way to bond and get to know your new pup. Imogene is waiting...fill out an application now!!
Medical note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease with melarsomine injections. Once treatment is completed and the dog is negative for microfilaria, the dog will be cleared to resume normal activity and be adopted. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs, and arteries, and can effect the dog's health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment. A good resource for more information on heartworm disease is: Please check with your vet if you should have any questions or concerns about this condition, and discuss any concerns you may have with your SOS Adoption Counselor.
Medical note: This dog has been diagnosed with a Grade II heart murmur. No treatment or further action is needed at this time, though further diagnostics and/or blood thinner medications may be pursued in the future. No activity restrictions are needed. Imogene's history of heartworm disease may have played a role in her developing this murmur or not. Grade II is the lowest detectable murmur, and many dogs live with this grade murmur for their entire lives with no issues. This is a good website for more information on this condition:

Adoption Fee: $425

**Additional info you should know -  For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label.   Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption.  There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.

Our Adoption Process...

Step 1: Find Fido

Review our online dog bios, email us if you have any questions. At SOS, we want to make the RIGHT right match, and that means helping you and Fido start a relationship – sometimes from a long distance.

Take your time, explore your options, consider your home and what kind of companion will fit in your lifestyle.

Step 2: Complete Our Application

Once you think you have found the right dog for you, please complete our online application.

At SOS, we don’t just want to make a match, we want to make the right match. To do this, we need your help; we know our dogs, but we don’t know you yet – our application helps us get to know you!

Step 3: Have a Talk

We will review the application and if it appears to be a good match for the selected dog, we will arrange for a time to talk with you over the phone.

Step 4: Meet Your Match

If, after the phone interview, the match seems to be a good one, we will be happy to arrange a meet-n-greet with you and the dog, if the dog is local. Meet-n-greets will be scheduled in the order they are requested.

Step 5: Application Screening

Once everyone has met (if the dog is local), and the match seems to be a good one, a designated SOS volunteer will check your landlord, vet, and personal references, as relevant. We may also require a home visit or adopter meeting.

Step 6: Finalize The Adoption

If the match is a good one, you will be informed via email of the adoption decision, and provided with instructions for how to pay the adoption donation and complete our adoption contract/addendum(s).

Step 7: Pick Up Your New Best Friend!

Once the adoption is finalized, congratulations! We will contact you to make arrangements to pick up your new family member!
**Please note that additional vetting, quarantine and/or waiting periods may be required depending upon your state of residence.

All of our dogs are age appropriately vaccinated prior to adoption. All of our dogs have been spayed/neutered and tested/treated for common canine disease.
